The Huffington Post released a Mother’s Day Guide for where to take mom out according to her personality type and we think this is a good thing to keep in mind. Here are some of our favs from their list:
For the Artsy Mom: Encourage Mom to unleash her creativity at the Lillstreet Art Center in Ravenswoodby sculpting clay together during a side-by-side workshop on the Saturday before Mother’s Day. An instructor will lead moms and their kids, ages 2 and up, for an hour of clay making on May 7. Clay classes are also available on other Saturdays in April, May and June. For art mediums beyond clay, Lillstreet also has sessions on sewing, printing, quilting, photography, printmaking, metalsmithing, drawing and painting.
$10 per person for side-by-side family clay workshop
4401 N. Ravenswood; 773-769-4226
For the Clothes-Fiend Mom: Treat Mom to a cute cocktail dress for a great bargain at Savvy Seconds & 1sts in Lincoln Square. The vintage clothing store claims that it’s “a hip and unique resale boutique,” and well, it really is. In addition to Dolce & Gabbana frocks and Diesel Jeans, Savvy Seconds & 1sts carries an array of accessories. On a recent day, lime-colored Etienne Aigner pumps were going for $15 and eye-catching belts for $5. Complete Mom’s look with a funky Guess clutch or Bebe handbag.
