Chinatown- Dragon Boat Race for Literacy 7/13

This Saturday, support literacy awareness by watching the dragon boat races race throughout the south bend of the Chicago River. There will also be music, food, crafts, and cultural performances for spectators.

Dragon boats come from an ancient Chinese tradition, but it is still a very popular water sport around the world! Each dragon boat team is made up of  20 paddlers, 1 drummer, 1 steersperson and up to 4 alternating athletes- there is also a women’s racing class too among others! According to the Major League of Dragon Boating website, 60% of participants are female! The event is FREE and will take place outdoors.
