French International SchoolFall French Market: 11/8-10

The Chicago French International School is throwing their 9th Annual Fall French Market Friday through Sunday on November 8-10th. With more than 60 venders, including activities for children, this is an event that has much variety to offer. The General Admission to the market is only $5.00 while students of the school and children are free. We’ve looked ahead at the schedule and these are a few things we are excited about:

South Shore Opera Company of Chicago celebrates Black Composers in a free concert on February 23, Saturday, 6 p.m. at South Shore Cultural Center, 7059 South Shore Drive.Too-seldom-heard opera excerpts, scenes and songs will introduce South Shore Opera’s fifth anniversary season celebrating classic and new Black Composers. Enjoy lyrical and haunting and complementing modern music from Adolphus Hailstork’s opera Paul Laurence Dunbar: Common Ground, arias of Florence Price and Lena McLin, and instrumentals and arrangements by Black composers.
